Labor Day “I HEART a Worker” Campaign

It’s been a tough year for America’s workers, and they need some love. So this Labor Day, we’re urging everyone to HEART a Worker via Facebook and Twitter and let the public know how important hardworking women and men are in our daily lives.

Here’s how it works: Beginning Aug. 29, our Labor Day splash page at www.aflcio.org will enable visitors to share a message that answers the question: Who do you HEART this Labor Day?

We’ll offer options such as I HEART Cooks or I HEART Firefighters, and visitors are free to customize the type of worker they HEART. After they fill in the type of worker they HEART, they can share the message on their Facebook wall and via Twitter with one or two quick clicks.

Please get the word out to your local unions, and encourage them to join in the I HEART a Worker action this Labor Day. The more they share the action with family and friends, the more the I HEART a Worker action will spread the word about the type of work they do-and why it’s so important.

Let your local unions know they also will be able to find Labor Day events in their area, sign up for AFL-CIO mobile alerts and download Labor Day FAQs to use in their communications-all at www.aflcio.org.

As we approach the 10th anniversary of 9/11, the I HEART a Worker action also is another way we can honor the many first responders and the thousands who worked so hard in the days and months after the tragedy to care for the injured and do the laborious work needed to restore the Pentagon and World
Trade Center sites.
