Union Community Fund Established For Tornado Disaster Relief Efforts

Labor in the Community – Help Needed With Tornado Disaster Relief

On June 1, hundreds, if not thousands, of our friends and neighbors suffered life-changing setbacks as a result of the tornadoes that devastated vast areas of Western and Central Massachusetts. To help ease the financial burden of these families during this unfortunate time, the Pioneer Valley AFL-CIO’s charitable organization, the Union Community Fund, is launching a special Tornado Disaster Relief effort. Please consider a generous donation to fund efforts to help our neighbors in this time of need. We encourage you to also please encourage your members to pass the hat and take up a collection at work.

Checks should be made out to the “Union Community Fund” and sent to Union Community Fund, 640 Page Blvd. #101, Springfield MA 01104.

Click here for information on federal disaster unemployment assistance for those in Hampden and Worcester counties left jobless by the tornadoes.

IAM Local 743 and IBEW Local 96 have offered up their services with debris removal and electrical work for struggling families still recovering from the tornadoes. If you know of anyone impacted by the tornadoes who still needs trees and debris cut, or still need electrical repairs, please call Rick Brown, President of the Pioneer Valley CLC, at (413) 732-7970.
