CISA Offers Spring Workshops For Farmers and Farmers’ Market Managers

 

Tuesday, May 17th, 6:00-8:00pm, CISA and the MA Farm Energy Program will team up to offer a workshop on energy efficiency.

PRESS RELEASE: CISA is excited to offer two workshop opportunities for farmers this May.

 

Tuesday, May 17th, 6:00-8:00pm, CISA and the MA Farm Energy Program will team up to offer a workshop on energy efficiency.

Energy Efficiency for Maple Sugaring

Participants will learn about equipment and techniques to reduce energy use for maple syrup production, and take a look at upgrades that J.P. Welch has put in place as an example. Jess Cook (MFEP) will review the services provided by the MA Farm Energy Program and possible funding support for farm energy projects related to sugaring operations.

 

The workshop will be help at Justamere Tree Farm, 248 Patterson Road in Worthington. Snacks will be served, suggested donation $5. Please RSVP by Thursday, May 12th to Devon Whitney-Deal at 413-665-7100 x22 or devon@buylocalfood.org.

 

 

Monday, May 23rd, 5:30-9:00pm, farmers, specialty producers and farmers’ market managers are welcome to join CISA for an interactive workshop on visual merchandising.

Farmstand Savvy: Building Your Image and Growing Your Business

Bruce Baker will teach participants how to create a farm stand/farmers’ market display that attracts attention to products and draws in customers. Attendees will learn effective and creative uses of space and how to create a mood with their booth that sets them apart.

 

The workshop will be held at Mill 1 at Open Square, 4 Open Square Way in Holyoke.Cost is $10 for Local Hero members and market managers, $20 for non-members.Please RSVP by Friday, May 20th to Devon Whitney-Deal, Local Hero Member Service Coordinator at 413-665-7100 x22 or
