7th Annual Sustainability Summit

It’s on it’s way!

Co-op Power’s Sustainability Summit will celebrate the work communities are doing to work for justice and sustainability. Communities are reducing their energy use and costs, building community owned sustainable energy, and bringing jobs and benefits to limited resource communities and communities of color, because they believe in a better way. Join in the festivities!  We will have live music from La Charanga Libre, Groove Shoes, and others, a family area with games and child-oriented activities, local food, dancing, exhibitors and activity centers where you can learn effective ways to make your life more affordable, comfortable, safe, and sustainable. You’ll also have an opportunity to participate in a Sustainable Solutions Think Tank addressing one of the key issues facing us as we transition our communities to a more just and sustainable future. In these sessions we’ll discuss issues of renewable energy technology, growth, consumerism, civic participation, restorative justice, the role of corporations, materialism, and transportation. We will identify ways to boost our local economies, build community capital, support appropriate technology and local agriculture, and bring good green jobs to limited resource areas.

We are expecting several hundred people to attend from broad cross-cultural communities and are especially excited to be able to have our Sustainability Summit at the newly renovated Greenfield Community College. The event will also be held in cooperation with 350.org‘s Moving Planet.
