How can we as a community prepare for and even celebrate the changes we need to make as we come to the end of cheap energy?

 

November 30, 6:30 pm     St. James Church, Greenfield

GASLAND The Halliburton-developed drilling technology of “fracking” or hydraulic fracturing has unlocked a “Saudi Arabia of natural gas”, but is it safe? This film follows a cross-country odyssey uncovering a trail of secrets, lies and contamination. Soon to be decided upon by President Obama, we need to inform ourselves about the potential destruction of our water safety, right here in Greenfield!

A SEA CHANGE This film is both a personal journey and a scientifically rigorous, sometimes humorous, unflinchingly honest look at the reality we have created in our oceans. It conveys the urgent steps we need to make to reduce the severity of the chemistry of our oceans.

CARBON NATION This film celebrates solutions, inspiration and action, making it appealing across the political spectrum. It shows how tackling climate change boosts the economy, increases national & energy security and promotes health and a clean environment.

GROWTH BUSTERS: Hooked on Growth “Hooked on Growth” takes a look at society’s addiction to endless growth. The film examines the cultural barriers that prevent us from reacting rationally to the evidence that current levels of population and consumption are unsustainable and asks the most critical question of our time: How do we become a sustainable civilization?

THE GROWING EDGE : Beyond Sustainability to Regeneration. This film is an antidote to environmental despair, a hopeful and practical look at a path to a viable, flourishing future. It introduces us to examples of projects led by some of the key figures in the Permaculture movement offering solutions and a hopeful proactive vision of a post-carbon future.
