CLOSING VERMONT YANKEE … HOW YOU CAN HELP

CLOSING VERMONT YANKEE … HOW YOU CAN HELP

A supper and a briefing session on December 6th and 8th by the Safe and Green Campaign.

Just four months from now Vermont Yankee will face its scheduled, state-mandated closing, on March 21, 2012. Safe and Green Campaign will present two pot luck supper briefings as an opportunity to learn how to become actively involved in making sure the Vermont Yankee nuclear reactor is finally shut down in a safe and timely way. The briefing will include the status of the federal court case (Entergy v. State of Vermont), preparations for non-violent direct action if Vermont Yankee is still operating on March 21st, and the many important ways people can participate in and/or support such action.

This event will be held from 6:00-8:30pm on Tuesday, December 6th at the All Souls Unitarian Church in Greenfield and on Thursday, December 8th, at the Center Congregational Church in Brattleboro. Safe and Green is making homemade chili, both meat and veggie. People are welcome to contribute salad, dessert, bread, drinks, snacks, and are welcome even if they can’t contribute a pot luck dish.

Safe & Green is working closely with Citizens Awareness Network, Vermont Yankee Decommissioning Alliance, Clamshell, and other groups under the umbrella of the newly formed SAGE Alliance that is focusing on preparations for nonviolent direct action if Vermont Yankee isn’t shut down by March 21, 2012.
