Additional Aid Possibilities – Tornado Relief

The Union Community Fund and The American Friends Service Committee can help connect donations and victims.

Here are the details…

The Union Community Fund of the Warren J. Plaut Charitable Trust is
accepting charitable donations for Tornado Disaster Relief.  Checks may be
made to WJPCT UCF, 640 Page Blvd, Room 101, Springfield MA 01104.

The American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) is currently accepting
(a) NON-PERISHABLE FOOD
(b) CLOTHES
(c) BEDDING
at its Northampton office: 2 Conz Street, Suite 2B, Northampton. You can
drop these things off all day today (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday) from 9
a.m. to 6 p.m. AFSC is currently working with the Springfield Rescue Mission
and other shelters in the area.

The Red Cross, while accepting monetary donations, is “unable to accept
donations of items like household goods because it does not have the
resources, staff or material to store, sort, transport and redistribute
those types of items. Community groups or churches often are able to fill in
to help fill these needs.” AFSC is attempting to work with other community
groups to fill those needs.
