Low cost big savings: Your Composting Toilet Carlyn: For about 500 dollars you can build yourself a two bay moldering toilet. Jonathan: Yup it would definitely I think--so for the materials--yea, if its part of an existing house. Carlyn: Does it save money? Jonathan: Yea your expenses are just about done once you’ve built this. You might need to invest in a little bit of wood chips which is the ingredient that you add while using it. You can get free from alot of wood working shops. Soft pine wood chips are the best. They are free usually. I can’t think of any other cost. Carlyn: So once you’ve spent the 500 dollars that is all you’re going to spend; you’re not going to be paying a plumber or buying a new toilet in your lifetime. Jonathan: Correct: in your lifetime or your next generation’s lifetime probably. Carlyn: These moldering toilets can go on and on, three years on three years off, indefinitely. Jonathan: Oh, yea, I mean it’s basically a concrete chamber and no moving parts. |
