Nov 17 – Noho – Home Energy Saving Seminar – Free

Want to reduce your home energy costs? Looking for no-cost/low-cost solutions that offer the most “bang for your buck” in terms of energy savings? You’ll get many tips to help you reduce your electricity use, and learn ways to prevent heat loss in your home. You’ll also learn about available home energy efficiency programs, and generous incentives that make money-saving home energy improvements affordable.

Learn all this and more by attending a FREE Home Energy Savings seminar on Tuesday, November 17, at 6:30pm at the Unitarian Society of Northampton and Florence, 220 Main Street, Northampton. The Social Justice Committee of the Unitarian Society is hosting this session, one of the 130 being held statewide with funding from the Mass Municipal Association.

The workshop will stress the importance of reducing heat usage by providing do-it-yourself weatherizing techniques; ways to save electricity, including eliminating “phantom loads,” getting a home energy audit, and available resources to help reduce the cost of making improvements. Presenters will lead a slideshow to illustrate
how the “thermal envelope” works in homes, discuss which improvements are the most cost-effective and provide hands-on tips and free educational materials for everyone attending.

“These seminars cover the key elements to reducing home energy costs,” explains Chris Mason, Energy and Sustainability Officer, City of Northampton. “You will learn highly effective ways to reduce energy use and costs, and also find out how your cost for making recommended home energy improvements could be reduced 75% up to $2,000.”
